Barahona is a small charming coastal town and a province located in the southwest of the Dominican Republic. Also known as the « Pearl of the South », Barahona province is bathed by the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea.
Barahona is a perfect destination for ecotourism enthusiasts and lovers of pristine beaches. The region offers a wide variety of climates, from the red desert to the Cachote tropical forest where temperatures remain cool all year round. You will meet local people and get to know their traditions and customs and you will discover some of the local wildlife and natural vegetation.
Bahoruco

La Cienaga
La Cienaga is a mountain area located on the road to Pedernales. This landscape is dominated by tropical rainforest. The French Embassy in the Dominican Republic has launched a micro-business development program in the region, to give local people the opportunity to start tourist activities.
Paraiso
Paraiso is a charming and very peaceful little village, in which the main activity seems to be playing dominos and walking on the malecon, the ocean front avenue. Everybody knows everybody in Paraiso. This small village is the starting point of many tours in the region.
Enriquillo
A small fishing village in the heart of the Sierra de Barohuco. It lies between the mountain and the sea. The village has typical narrow streets and a small brook called the Sito. Enriquillo boasts a fruit market and a flea market where both Dominican and Haitians come to buy and sell.
