Scuba Diving in Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic is a top destination for scuba diving with coasts both on the Atlantic Ocean in the north and on the Caribbean Sea in the south. Visibility- and temperature-wise, scuba diving conditions are optimal all year round.
The most popular diving sites on the island are Sosua in the north and Punta Cana in the east. Bayahibe in the southeast is famous for its offshore reefs, marine life and shipwrecks, like that of the large ship San George. Catalina Island in la Romana is a must-go if you visit the area. Las Galeras in Samaná is definitely among the best diving sites on the island. The southwestern part of the country also offers a variety of more suitable sites for experienced divers.
DeChepa Travel offers diving packages in various sites if you are a certified diver. If not, you can arrange a beginner’s package including PADI certification and all equipment rentals.
