Santo Domingo Dominican Republic
What we like best:
- Eat a falafel in Padre Billini street
- Go for a horse and carriage tour on the malecón
- Enjoy a natural fruit juice in front of the first cathedral in the Americas.
Santo Domingo is the capital city of the Dominican Republic and the first city built in the New World. The city, located on the coast of the Caribbean Sea, is home to the first buildings in the Americas, which is why the city has been listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site. Santo Domingo has two cruise ship harbors near the Colonial Zone and is thus a perfect stop for many cruise ships.
Santo Domingo is also a modern and cosmopolitan capital city that boasts many attractions. It is a rapidly growing city with many new shopping centers and an impressive road traffic considering its size. Many hotels in the city are home to all-night casinos.
